de oink cafe guide to … taipei! chia te bakery!

as i was packing my bags for home, i was screaming why did my business partners give me two boxes of pineapple and cranberry pastries? ehh since it was a business trip, the suitcase i used was the tiny one.

loots from chia te bakery

they are so friggin good!

though i am not a big fan of pineapple pastry, but the ones given by them were the best that i ever have! these little gems were from chia te bakery and apparently (and from the website), people queued up for their pastries (geez i am so ungrateful)!

the inside of the pineapple pastry

the shortcrust pastry that wrapped the pineapple filling was buttery and not very crumbly. the pineapple filling was rich, smooth, and most importantly not sickly sweet. everything just go so well with each other. its so good it even got mdm tan stamp of approval!

the inside of the cranberry pastry – kinda look like an owl

however my favorite was the cranberry version. when you bite into it, you discovered that there is a thin layer of pineapple jam and they stuffed the pastry with lotsa cranberries – so you get a bit of sweet and a bit of tartiness.

and now i can totally understand why i saw cartons of it brought back at the airport! they are that good.
